Leading the project from design development to bidding was my first role at BARN Arch. The city wanted to build it immediately to celebrate an important public holiday. The rigid deadline was too close. Yet, we all, as young architects, were really excited to foster and experience a marvellous open event area in Turkey.

There were all elements and materials that you might see in such a place: a retractable tribune; scaffoldings covered with mesh and lights to serve as an ambient art gallery; circular ramps coming out of a cyberpunk movie; a 13-meter-high geodesic dome; terraces, shorelines, and stadium spotlights.

Meeting with city officials, coordinating the work of consultants and several engineers, and designing at the same time was like going to an intensive development camp.
